Insurance Brokers J. E. Sills and Sons Ltd are celebrating being finalists in the prestigious Insurance Times Commercial Lines Broker of the Year Award 2012

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at London's Battersea Evolution on 4th December. The awards are the insurance industries equivalent of the BAFTA's

Reaching the final of the Insurance Times awards is nothing new to the firm. Last year its Managing Director David Lee was a finalist in the category "Chartered Professional of the Year Award"

The final judging was held in London back in September where the firm had to present to a panel of leading insurance experts. The firm now has the agonising wait until the award ceremony.

Founded in 1928, J. E. Sills and Sons Ltd are Lincolnshire's oldest insurance brokers. The firm was established by John Edgar Sills who was later joined by his two sons Harold and Maurice Sills. When the founder retired he was succeeded by Lawrence (Lol) Thompson who is the father-in-law of the current Managing Director David Lee. The business is owned by David Lee and his wife Lorraine. In such a long history the firm has only been owned by just a few families.

Today the firm is very much a family business. The business has been based upon Corporation Street, Lincoln for approximately 80 years. It employs 12 staff the longest serving of whom has been with the firm for 35 years.

Current Managing Director David Lee has been with the business for 25 years. David explains "our philosophy is simple, we do not wish to be the biggest, but strive to be the very best"

The business puts its customers first and for that reason remains totally independent. We put the interest our Clients rather than our own income or convenience.

The business still has a Private Clients Department which looks after needs of the discerning individual for home, motor and travel. You can arrange your home cover on line with a few clicks but it is easy to make a mistake and should the unthinkable happen, do you really want to be trying to sort out a large claim with an Insurer on your own?

The firm insures many of Lincolnshire's oldest and most respected businesses but they also have clients throughout the whole of the East Midlands.

David explains that if a claim is covered insurers will pay. Most of the stories you hear about claims not being paid are because the policyholder has not complied with their part of the contract in making the correct disclosures or complying with the policy terms. Often policies are arranged in haste or with poor advice. Insurers look at claims with a fine tooth comb so you cannot overlook attention to deal when arranging a policy and expect to be covered.

Over the years we have seen many competitors some and go but Clients appreciate our friendly, flexible, professional and efficient service.

The firm uses the latest technology to assist in offering a first class service to customers.

The firm keeps it fingers crossed for the 4th December
